Position Description:

The Crew Lead is responsible for assembling and nurturing an effective team capable of completing projects independently. This role involves leveraging resources from YEP management and utilizing technical expertise from partners. The Crew Lead will teach team members how to use chainsaws, tablets with mapping software, and chemical spraying methods for weed treatment. Additionally, the Crew Lead must be willing to perform preparation tasks as needed.

1. Team Management: Oversee and guide team members to ensure successful project completion.

2. Organization and Preparation: Prepare for projects by organizing resources and workflow.

3. Safety and Professional Ethics: Maintain safety standards and promote ethical behavior within the team.

4. Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication among team members and with other stakeholders.

5. Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of project progress and report findings as needed.

6. Performance Reviews: Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback.

7. Tool and Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.

8. Training and Development: Provide training to team members and encourage professional growth.

9. Project Goals and Adaptability: Set and adapt project goals as needed to meet challenges.

10. Engagement and Positivity: Foster a positive team environment and encourage team engagement.

11. Responsibility and Professionalism: Model professionalism and accountability in all tasks.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

- Minimum age of 18 years; 22 years of age preferred.

- Experience working outdoors.

- Preferred: 2 years of university experience in natural resources.

- Experience in managing employees, teams, and/or equipment.

- A positive attitude and energy.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Physically fit with the ability to perform hard labor.

- Interest in professional growth and learning.

- Ability to lift 40lbs - 80lbs

This position may require periodic overnight travel and non-traditional work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends. Team members may camp in tents for up to 8 days at a time and hike in rugged terrain 10- 15 miles per day.
