Contact our Salmon Branch

With strong roots in the Salmon region and a close working relationship with the Salmon-Challis National Forest, the Youth Employment Program's Salmon branch provides meaningful employment opportunities that connect young people directly to stewardship of public lands, recreation management, and conservation projects.

Through partnerships with Forest Service recreation departments, local organizations, and community partners, participants gain hands-on experience while working in some of Idaho's most rugged and beautiful landscapes. Crew members may spend time camping in remote wilderness settings, clearing and maintaining trails, improving recreation sites, constructing and repairing infrastructure, welding campsite facilities, and completing projects that enhance public access and visitor experiences.

These projects provide more than seasonal employment. They build strong work ethic, leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and personal responsibility while exposing participants to career opportunities in natural resources, recreation, conservation, and public land management. By combining meaningful work with professional mentorship, the Salmon branch helps young people develop valuable life skills while making a lasting impact on the lands and communities they serve.
